Your Danceathon Questions Answered

In short, no!

Dancing time is from 5pm-10pm. This is a challenge that you’re asking for sponsorship for, so we suggest you decide how long to dance for based on your own fitness levels and experience. Everyone will have a different capacity and what’s challenging for one may not be for another. We want everyone to be safe, and to have fun! It’s important to make sure you have breaks to hydrate and fuel yourself for the dancing. Want to sway from side to side or hand jive rather than go full out – that’s fine – just do what feels comfortable for you.

Yes, on arrival we’ll be asking everyone to complete a short health questionnaire/waiver to confirm you’re fit and well to participate.

We’ll also have a photography and videography release for so you can let us know if you’re happy to appear in photo or video of the night.

For this event you need to be 16 or over to take part.

We’ve got 3 fab fitness and dance fitness instructors joining us throughout the evening. Each instructor will be taking the floor for 45 mins of dancing, and they’ll be adapting their classes to make sure you can join in and have fun even if you’ve never done a dance class before and bearing in mind you’ll be dancing for a much of the 5 hours as you can!

We’ve got:

Zumba with Marie (45 mins)

Rock Fit with Jen (45/50 mins)

Salsa/Cha-cha/Rock’n’roll Fun with Sarah https://www.livewireschoolofdance.co.uk/about/

When you book your place you’ll be asked for 2 of your favourite tunes to dance to and we’re going to be compiling a playlist with at least one of those choices from each person so we can keep dancing between instructor led sessions and for the final hour. We can’t wait to find out what everyone chooses!

You’re welcome to hang out in the café if you need a rest, or we have use of Hope Hive’s fantastic soundproof sensory room which we’ll be using as a designated quiet space.

We suggest that everyone brings a refillable drink bottle to make sure you’ve always got access to something to hydrate you.

Hope Hive will be opening their café for us for the night and they have a great menu that includes toasties, sandwiches, snacks and drinks.

You’re welcome to bring your own food as well to keep yourself fuelled and keep your energy levels up through the evening .

IMPORTANT NOTE: Hope Hive is a nut free venue so please ensure that no items you’re bringing contain nuts. This is particularly important to note with health and fitness snacks as they often contain nuts.

Yes, there’s a limited number of parking spaces in the Hope Hive car park and free on street parking in the surrounding streets.

Yes, there are will be First Aiders at the event.

We’d love it if everyone participating aims to raise £100 in sponsorship.

That’s ok – you can still participate, and sometimes people receive donations after completing challenges like this. In the words of a well-known supermarket, ‘Every Little Helps’.

1. Set up a Just Giving page that’s linked to our Safe in Sussex profile by clicking the ‘fundraise now’ button on this page: https://www.justgiving.com/charity/safeinsussex

Then share the link to your page with the people you’re asking to sponsor you, on your socials etc.

Doing it this way means after the setting up of your page, there’s not a lot you need to do other than shout about what you’re doing and why!

2. Double your donations. Between the 5th and 15th October, we are participating in the Big Give Violence against Women and Girls campaign. Any donations made via the Big Give up to the value of £5,000 during this period will be doubled. So if your supporters want to contribute directly via the Big Give or give money to you to submit, you will be making double the difference. https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000004OYshYAG

3. We have a good old sponsorship form you can download below. Fill this out and collect your donations which you can then drop off to our head office in Ferring, or pay in by BACS using the following details:

Bank: Lloyds Bank

Account Name: Worthing Women’s Aid Ltd or Safe in Sussex

Sort Code: 30-99-93

Account No: 03825926

We’d love it if you could share the details of the Danceathon with your friends, family, colleagues, or anyone you think would be interested in joining in.

If you’re taking photos or video on the night and posting it on your socials, please follow and tag Safe in Sussex. If anyone else if in your photos or videos, please ask for their permission before posting.

Yes, absolutely! We’ve got a few images below that you can download for use on socials or sponsorship pages.

If there are any other questions you want to ask that we’ve not answered above, please as email us on fundraising@safeinsussex.org.uk
