Safe in Sussex is a charity which seeks to end domestic abuse through, refuge, freedom and education.

Children and Young People’s Support Workers Role

The Children and Young People’s Worker will, under the direct supervision of the Children & Young People’s Community Group Manager, undertake the facilitation of the healthy relationship educational programmes and one to one support sessions to children and young people affected by domestic abuse, or at risk of child sexual exploitation during the Covid-19  pandemic in West Sussex.

The support will be delivered in a variety of venues such as youth groups and schools, in both small groups and a one to one basis.

This role is funded by Children in Need to support children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The post holder will work in line with Safe in Sussex policies and procedures as agreed by the board of Trustees.

Working Hours
20 hours to include some evening work
(Term time only)
Fixed term contract of 18 months

Male Domestic Abuse Support Worker

To provide a high quality support service to men experiencing medium and standard risk domestic violence and abuse in West Sussex.

Supporting men experiencing medium and standard risk domestic violence and abuse to make long term positive and sustainable changes in their lives and to recover from the harm of domestic violence.

To carry out a scoping exercise exploring with male survivors effective service provision.

Working Hours
35 hours per week

Charity Shop Volunteers

Can you spare a few hours a week to help us raise vital funds through our charity shop in Broadwater Worthing? The charity shop is open 6 days a week and sells a range of pre-loved goods.

Duties include:

  • Sorting, steaming and displaying donated items.
  • Ensuring the physical environment of the shop is safe, clean, tidy and welcoming to customers.
  • Handling cash and managing the till.
  • Taking deliveries / donations
  • Some lifting of boxes and bags of donations

Safe In Sussex receives 14% of its funding from the government. The rest is through grants, fundraising events, donations, legacies and corporate sponsorship.

Demand for our services grows every year and finding the money to fund our vital services gets tougher all the time.

We are fortunate to receive some grant funding from Children in Need, the National Lottery and local authority organisations, but we are constantly looking for new ways to attract funding.
