Safe in Sussex is a charity which seeks to end domestic abuse through, refuge, freedom and education.

Refuge Family Support Worker
The Refuge Family Support Worker will work alongside refuge staff under the direct supervision of the refuge manager to ensure our services adequately meet the needs of women and children who use them. She will uphold high standards of confidentiality to protect the rights of our residents within the refuge and undertake regular boundary training to ensure our residents receive appropriate, professional support. The Refuge Family Support Worker will provide sensitive and effective advocacy for our residents and offer a programme of individual support to ensure the needs of women and children are met.
The Worker will provide practical assistance and accurate information on current legislation relating to benefits, housing and legal services. She will accurately signpost residents to the correct support services available if these are not available within the refuge. The Family Support Refuge Worker will liaise on behalf of women with all the relevant agencies and ensure all that all women and children have equal access to the services provided within the refuge.
Hours: 16 hours a week
Salary: £10,174.70 (actual per annum)
Purpose of job:
Due to the nature of the work, this post has a genuine occupational requirement to be open to females only and is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1.

Charity Shop Volunteers
Can you spare a few hours a week to help us raise vital funds through our charity shop in Broadwater Worthing? The charity shop is open 6 days a week and sells a range of pre-loved goods.
- Sorting, steaming and displaying donated items.
- Ensuring the physical environment of the shop is safe, clean, tidy and welcoming to customers.
- Handling cash and managing the till.
- Taking deliveries / donations
- Some lifting of boxes and bags of donations

Safe In Sussex receives 14% of its funding from the government. The rest is through grants, fundraising events, donations, legacies and corporate sponsorship.
Demand for our services grows every year and finding the money to fund our vital services gets tougher all the time.
We are fortunate to receive some grant funding from Children in Need, the National Lottery and local authority organisations, but we are constantly looking for new ways to attract funding.
