Colourful Cream Tea
Bakers! Cake Lovers! We need you!
Friday 26th June 2026 is National Cream Tea Day, but we want to put our own twist on it and get people involved in hosting Colourful Cream Tea events to help raise vital funds for us. Think edible glitter, scones with pink clotted cream, and brightly decorate cakes. Okay… we know that’s starting to sound a bit more like an afternoon tea, but we’re trying to make it a fun as possible.
Make, bake, and decorate some sweet and savoury treats for your friends, family, or colleagues to enjoy to celebrate the British traditional that is a good cream tea.
Whether you’re channelling your inner bake-off winner and creating elaborate masterpieces, or you’ve never baked before, you can get involved.
Here are some ideas:
- Host an office cream tea where your colleagues can all bring a contribution and ask for donations in exchange for tucking into the yummy treats.
- Create a set menu for an cream tea and charge a per head price which is then donated to Safe in Sussex. Depending on where you’re hosting you might even want to add the option of a cheeky glass of bubbly.
- Host a ‘Best Scone’ competition – you could even have different categories e.g. best risen, best sweet, best savoury, most creative flavour.
If you’re a professional baker or run a bakery and would be interested in getting involved we’d love to hear from you with some ideas of how we can work together to support each other. We’ve had a few ideas for how this could work e.g. donating a percentage of sales of one particular item throughout June with us featuring you as a supporting business and promoting you, or raffling off a cream tea hamper or celebration cake to customers in aid of Safe in Sussex.
