Safe in Sussex receives limited funding from local authorities towards the cost of running our four refuges.
We receive some additional funding through the National Lottery and Children in Need but we also to have to raise a substantial amount ourselves each year.

Domestic abuse can affect anyone and supporting Safe in Sussex is a great way to show your employees your commitment to tackling domestic abuse and promoting healthy relationships.
Sponsorship packages are flexible and can be designed to align with your business goals and budget.
In return for becoming a corporate partner, we can provide staff training on domestic abuse and help you develop a domestic abuse policy for your business.
You will also benefit from the positive publicity we generate across West Sussex for our work.

Fundraising Events
We regularly hold fundraising events and are always grateful for volunteers help to run and promote our events
Shocking Shirts & Funky Frocks – Friday 24th June 2022 (or any other day in June if you can’t do the 24th!)
Dress to impress/entertain your colleagues and make a donation to Safe in Sussex.
Our annual event is held on the last Friday of June and businesses, schools and community groups take part by wearing some pretty outlandish and funky clothes to work or meetings and making a donation to Safe in Sussex.
If organising an event for this it can be any day in June.

Gingerbread House Event, Thursday 8th December 2022 (Timings to be confirmed, but it will start early evening)
It will be the 5th year of Gingerbread House fun this year.
Businesses/Schools or Community Group Gingerbread House Decorating Competition – Get your company, school or community group to take part in our gingerbread decorating competition – as a team or individually. This one is £50 to enter and there’s a trophy for the winner. There’s great publicity to be had too!
Adult Gingerbread House Decorating Competition (16 years +) – This competition is for any adult that buys and decorates one Safe in Sussex’s large or small gingerbread house.
Child Gingerbread House Decorating Competition (15 years old and under)
This competition is for any child that decorates one of Safe in Sussex’s large or small gingerbread houses.
Adult Freestyle Gingerbread House Decorating Competition (16 years +) –
This competition is for any adult that makes and decorates their own gingerbread house from scratch.
Child Freestyle Gingerbread House Decorating Competition (15 years and under) – This competition is for any child that makes and decorates their own gingerbread house from scratch.
The competitions will all be judged on 3 things – Imagination, Inspiration, and Appearance.
It really is great festive fun. For the first 3 competitions, we provide the Gingerbread House packs with all the pieces in it, and you put it together, decorate it and bring it along to the event to be judged. For the last 2 competitions all you need to do it contact us to book your place and bring it along to be judged.
Entrance to see the displays will be by donation only.

Safe in Sussex Charity Shop
Our Broadwater charity shop, located at 5 Broadwater Street West, is a great way for us to raise funds.
We welcome donations of excellent quality (clean, not stained, marked, faded, damaged or broken) household goods, bric-a-brac and clothes.
Our shop is open 9.30am to 4.15pm Monday to Friday and between 9.30am and 3.00pm on Saturdays and you can call them on 01903 234325.
Donate from the comfort of your home
You can donate all your broken and unwanted jewellery to raise money for Safe in Sussex.
If you have any gold, silver, odd earrings, broken chains, costume jewellery and watches, you can recycle them at no cost to you whilst raising money for Safe in Sussex.
- Any jewellery – gold, silver, costume jewellery, watches, broken and damaged items (like odd earrings, snapped chains or items with missing stones).
- Unwanted banknotes – old and new, UK and foreign banknotes, including all the pre-Euro notes that are now worthless to you.
- Please do not send coins as the postage costs will far outweigh your donation.
Simply wrap, pack, print label and send!

Safe in Sussex Recycling Bins
We have three collection bins
- Safe in Sussex Charity Shop, Broadwater
- Co-Op, South Street, Worthing
- Goring Methodist Church, Bury Drive, Goring
We collect jewellery, watches, currency (any sort, old or current), small gadgets including mobile phones, cameras, video cameras, electronic gaming devices, I Pods / MP3 players, laptops, sat navs, tablet devices and Stamps (any sort, old or current).
All items can be working, damaged or broken.

Safe In Sussex receives 14% of its funding from the government. The rest is through grants, fundraising events, donations, legacies and corporate sponsorship.
Demand for our services grows every year and finding the money to fund our vital services gets tougher all the time.
We are fortunate to receive some grant funding from Children in Need, the National Lottery and local authority organisations, but we are constantly looking for new ways to attract funding.
