At the end of June Safe in Sussex went ahead with their Shocking Shirts and Funky Frocks Day virtually. Shocking Shirts and Funky Frocks is held the last Friday of June which coincides with National Cream Tea Day.
The Co-op store in Selsey chose Safe in Sussex to be their chosen charity and offered to do a book sale to raise funds for our charity.
Events secretary of Littlehampton Civic Society, Angela Tester author of ‘Suffragettes in Littlehampton’ has raised £728.61 for local charity Safe in Sussex’s Amber House women’s refuge.
Safe In Sussex receives 14% of its funding from the government. The rest is through grants, fundraising events, donations, legacies and corporate sponsorship.
Demand for our services grows every year and finding the money to fund our vital services gets tougher all the time.
We are fortunate to receive some grant funding from Children in Need, the National Lottery and local authority organisations, but we are constantly looking for new ways to attract funding.
